Purpose:  

Under supervision, the Human Resource Support Specialist performs work of moderate difficulty in human resources and benefits administration. This position supports all aspects of human resources including, but not limited to, the hiring process and applicant flow, personnel records, payroll, group insurance administration and monthly reconciliation, Affirmative Action planning and OSHA reporting. Assist in providing support to ensure compliance with policies and applicable federal, state and local laws.

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and work experience
  • Three years of HR administration experience, required
  • Possess an understanding of HR processes and administration to ensure compliance
  • Ability to work well with a team in a fast-paced, professional office environment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and have a high attention to detail
  • High level of confidentiality is a MUST
  • Strong computer skills, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with ADP and HRIS systems would be considered a plus
  • HR certification would be considered a plus

Core Accountabilities

  • Assist with payroll and benefits administration on a day to day basis, as directed
  • Create, maintain and audit employee files in a confidential manner
  • Assist with maintaining documents related to salary, benefits, payroll and applicant flow
  • Perform data entry for new hires, terminations, salary increases, and benefit election changes etc.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding policies, benefits, employment, PTO, etc.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence and guide employees through the LOA process
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies to provide guidance to employees and managers to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Liaise with the payroll and benefit vendors as needed to resolve employee and administrative issues
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Help with special projects as needed
