STAFF ACCOUNTANT: This position has the primary responsibility of assisting the head of the Finance Department with general ledger postings, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closings. This position will be required to cross-train in all other areas of Finance and Administration as well. Special projects will be assigned on a routine basis.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent relevant education/experience, preferred
- Experience in an accounting role, preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications -- Excel is essential, required
- Experience with inventory costing in a manufacturing environment would be considered a plus
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Core Accountabilities:
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly closings
- Assist with preparing financial statements as well as other financial and statistical reports requested by the manager
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts in a timely manner
- Process fixed assets, depreciation, and reconciliation of fixed asset general ledger accounts monthly
- Reconcile sales and use tax reports on a monthly basis
- Prepare documents and reports for tax preparation and other purposes
- Must be able to cross-train in areas of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and any other administrative duties as assigned
- Provide support for other accounting and administrative team members and cross-train to back up team members in their absence
- Special projects, as assigned
